How to Draw Arcs

    Toolbar Arc Drawing method:

    1. Pick the "Arc" icon from the Toolbar.

    2. Pick the Arc "Start point" (one end of the arc) on the drawing screen.

    3. Type C <RET> (for "Center" of the Arc).

    4. Pick the arc "Center point" (the center of the Arc radius) on the drawing screen.

    5. Type A <RET> (for "Angle").

    6. Type in on the keyboard the "included Angle" through which the arc is rotated from the start point to the end point. The angle is measured positive in the counter-clockwise direction, and negative in the clockwise direction.
     
     



    Other Methods of Drawing Arcs






    Pull-down menu Arc Drawing method:

    1. Pick "Draw" header in Pull-down menu (3rd from the left)

  1. Pick "Arc" from Draw Pull-down menu. A sub-sub menu will appear to the side.
3. Select the word "Start, Cen, Angle." 5. Pick the arc "Start point" (one end of the arc) on the drawing screen

6. Pick the arc "Center point" (the center of the arc radius) on the drawing screen

7. Type in on the keyboard the "included Angle" through which the arc is rotated from the start point to the end point. The angle is measured positive in the counter-clockwise direction, and negative in the clockwise direction.

Note that there are 12 different ways to draw arcs in AutoCAD. The SCA method (Start, Center, and Angle) is the most used the most for architectural drawing.
 
 



How to draw an arc for the swing of the door

  1. Type A <RET>
  2. Osnap to the ENDpoint of the wall to select the Starting point of the arc where you want to start the arc
  3. Type E <RET> to allow you to select the so-called "endpoint" of the arc and OSNAP to the ENDpoint of the door latch stile (the outer edge of the door)
  4. Type C <RET> to allow you to pick the Center point of the arc, and OSNAP to the ENDpoint of the hinge point of the door.
