1. Use a piece of 11 x 17 white paper – orient it portrait style (long direction vertical)
2. Draw 3 separate forms which will make a building:
a. 10’ x 10’ x 100’ tall
b. 30’ x 30’ x 30’ tall
c. 40’ x 40’ x 50’ tall
3. Compose the forms to make one balanced composition.
4. Make an isometric drawing of the composition at 1/8” = 1’-0”
scale hardline in mechanical drafting pencil.
5. Place roofs on top of each form – gable, pyramid, or shed – your
choice of slope - do not use flat roofs.
6. Place one entry door 3’ wide x 7’ high at an appropriate location
at the ground floor level.
7. Place some windows (your choice as to how many and their size) in the composition.
8. Windows and door should be recessed one foot back into the wall to show that
the walls have thickness.
9. The forms must be arranged so that the users (people) can walk from one form
to the others without having to go outside.
10. Render the completed isometric composition by tracing the pencil lines with
razor point pen using a straight edge (triangle); shade each form in a prismacolor
pencil, giving each a distinctive color – use 45 degree angle stroke and
leave white space; color windows solid black – color entry door red.
11. Letter the title Balanced Building using Sign Pen, ¼” high,
use guidelines and center the bottom of the text 1” above the bottom edge
of the paper
12. Letter your name on the back using F lead, ¼” high, centered
at 1” above the bottom edge.
13. Sketch problem is due at 3:30 p.m. today (you will be given a one class
period extension on your scheduled project)
