EXECUTIVE MEETING NOTES
October 2004

The 2003-2004 IACCB officers-elect met with Sue Trammell (the current President). Those in attendance were:

Marla Garrison (McHenry County College) - President-elect

Liz Perez (Triton College) - Vice President-elect

Carolyn Peters (Spoon River CC) - Treasurer-elect

Tom Firak (Oakton CC) - Secretary-elect

MaryLou Albee (Lewis & Clark College) raised a number of concerns:

  1. Conference participants are not informed of receipt of payment for the conference registration.
  2. Saturday might be a more appropriate day for Executive Meeting (planning and sharing for General meeting on Sunday).
  3. Checks received for conference registration and/or membership should be cashed promptly.
A general discussion about IAI updates and issues occurring as a sharing session at the conference was recommended.
Sue Trammell offered several suggestions to promote organizational aims.
  1. District representatives should become more involved in recruiting new members ( the constitution lists job descriptions to facilitate effective leadership).
  2. A better communication system between officers, board members and IACCB members should be established. Also, board members should communicate with each other more frequently.
  3. There should be ten board members (including district reps).

Two IACCB members volunteered to be District Representatives:

Craig Stettner (Harper College).
Michelle Zurawski (Moraine Valley CC)

The suggestion of a newsletter was made. Liz Perez agreed to work on it.

The Executive meeting convened to allow for the General Meeting.
IACCB GENERAL MEMBERSHIP MEETING

I. Approval of Minutes:

No minutes were available from last years meeting.

II. Treasurer's Report:

The acting Treasurer was not present (no formal report was available at this time). It was stated that approximately $2900.00 was in the account; two scholarships were still unclaimed, as a part of that total.

III. New Business:

The question of where to hold the next Fall meeting was posed. Some members complained about the new management, as well as the increased cost. A
motion was made to have the meeting at Allerton for next October, and decide future meetings at the next conference.

Article X of the constitution is in error: Belleville College is Now Southwest Illinois College.

The newsletter idea was suggested, and the Vice President agreed to get it started.

The IACCB Spring Meeting tradition was discussed. It has been cancelled for various reasons in recent years, and we questioned continued efforts to invest in it. A motion was made to suspend it for the coming year, and revisit its future at the next Fall meeting.

A motion was made to empower District Representatives to hold a service day if they so choose.

Jerry Hinckley addressed IAI issues. A course description/ transferability position paper from Parkland College will be published October 26th, with subject panels for each subject. The question arose of what constitutes a 'lab' course (a course with lab credit) for Gen Ed (the Life Science panel is not notified of changes to Gen Ed courses). Jerry encouraged members to visit the itransfer.org website.

Nominations for the officers were as followed:

Marla Garrison (McHenry County College) - President
