(1) REQUIRED TEXT : Principles of Macroeconomics, 5th edtion by Gottheil. —The
study guide is recommended but not required.
COURSE OBJECTIVES AND
OVERVIEW: The course is an
introductory course in the principles of macroeconomics, which deals with the
aggregate economy. Topics covered
include the nature of economics, supply and demand, unemployment, inflation,
and the use of fiscal and monetary policy and its influence on the economy.
GRADING PROCEDURE: There will be 4 exams, including 3 regular tests and a comprehensive
final exam. The lowest of the first 3
tests is dropped. There will be a series
of online quizzes. There are 4 multiple
choice quizzes, each worth 30 points:
the lowest will be dropped. These
quizzes can be taken 2 times, and the higher score counts, but the questions
are not the same each time. There are
also 4 short answer quizzes, which can only be taken once each, worth 20 points
each. The lowest of these is also
dropped. Exams will be a mixture of
multiple choice, short answer, essays and problem solving. Finally, there is a paper worth 100
points.

Possibly there will be some extra credit questions added to the final exam or elsewhere, but this is the ONLY extra credit offered in the course. Also there are no make ups on the quizzes.

The final exam is Dec. 18th,
Thursday, at 7 am.
The final exam is comprehensive, but
extra emphasis will be on chapters covered after the 3rd exam.

POLICIES;
1. Proper behavior is expected at all times both in and out of
the classroom.
2. Water bottles will be permitted in the classroom, but NO
OTHER Food or drink is permitted, including gum! Food and drink are also NOT permitted in any
of the carpeted areas of any of the buildings.
Please also note the no-smoking policy in all campus buildings.

There are no make up
exams. If you miss an exam, it will be
the lowest exam that gets dropped.
4.
The final exam is mandatory,
regardless of past performance in the course.
5. Attendance is crucial to your success in this course.
6. Cheating on exams will result in a
failing grade in the course. Any form of
plagiarism on the paper assignment results in an F in the course.

There are NO MAKE UP
QUIZZES!!!

NO CELL PHONES OR BEEPERS
SHOULD GO OFF IN THE CLASSROOM!! Also
NO text messaging is allowed in class.
10. Excessive tardiness can
result in being dropped from the class.
IMPORTANT NOTE TO ALL STUDENTS ON
DROPPING CLASSES.
The last day to drop from a class is Nov. 15. If a student wishes to drop a class, they
must fill out the necessary form and turn it in to registration by this
date. Failure to do so WILL result in a
grade of "F" for the course.
NO STUDENT MAY DROP THE CLASS AFTER THE DROP DEADLINE.
