Web Design 5: Post-Production
After the site is in production it is time to tie-up loose ends and plan for the future.
- Documentation: Prepare final documentation including user analysis, requirements, and test results. Produce a site map. Highlight those pages that must be reviewed and updated frequently. Document all advanced features. Provide copyright permissions if materials from other sources were used in the site. Document software (including versions) used to create the site. Document all pages where customers can submit questions or comments and note which department or individuals are responsible for checking for and answering these questions.
- Maintenance: Provide a plan to test for dead links. If prudent, plan to archive material once it has been removed from the web site. Provide a method of analyzing access logs so that the sites hit rates can be ascertained.
