Students guide for using WebCT

The discussion forums will be utilized as follows:

1. Class participation(required) - The participation portion of the course consists of making a posting at the end of each chapter. This posting, commonly referred to as the 'Muddiest Point', is to be just a few sentences describing what the most difficult(or muddiest) portion of the chapter was for you and whether or not you were able to successfully address it. Each chapter posting has a deadline - adhere to it. See the agenda in the classroom for specific due dates.

Please feel free to respond to the postings of others. It is often helpful to see what it giving your fellow classmates difficulty. You may find that you are having the same issues or may you be able to assist someone in clearing up their muddiest point.

2. Instructor contact - If you want to post a general comment or question that requires a response from me, please do so. I will always check the board during office hours (click on the instructor link below to see current office hours for the semester). Remember, what you post is public - the entire group will have access to it. Therefore, if you want to communicate privately, send me an email, call me on the phone or even stop by during office hours if you are on campus.

3. General announcements - I will use the discussion board for making any general announcements regarding the class. Therefore, it is important that you check the board often. Once a day is best, if you can manage the time for it.
