Introduction to Poetry
COURSE
DESCRIPTION: Course is designed to introduce students to poetry so
that they may read, understand, critique and enjoy it. Students are
exposed to a range of British and American poets and given a framework
and vocabulary from which they may intelligently approach poetry.

ADDITIONAL
MATERIALS REQUIRED: One 3 1/2" disk, and any collegiate dictionary.
OBJECTIVES:

a real interest in, and respect for, poetry

aesthetic judgment, enabling the student to analyze, critique, and understand
the qualities of poetry and poems

well developed poetry analysis/interpretation essays
