Residential Interior Design

An introductory course in interior design of residential spaces.The functional, financial, social and aesthetic aspects of the home and its furnishings are studied through studio work in evaluation of house and apartment plans and selection and arrangements of furnishings. Interior decorating and Fung Shue principles are studied, including color selection, upholstery, draperies, curtains, shades, blinds, furniture, wall coverings, decorative art, tableware, lighting and accessories.

Course Outline:

At the completion of this course, the student will be able to:

Interview a client to determine a client's needs, desires and tastes.

Furnish a residence with appropriate furniture, window treatment, wall and floor covering and accessories.

Present idea to clients with plans, elevations, sections, axonometric and perspective.
