IACCB Annual Fall Conference at Allerton Park

Allerton Park (near the town of Monticello, IL) is an island of natural forests, art and architecture in the middle of Illinois farmland.  Donated to the University of Illinois by Robert Allerton in 1946, the park contains 1500 acres of woodland and a twenty room mansion built in the Georgian style.  Sculptures and garden ornaments are found throughout the woodlands and formal gardens.  The pieces were collected by the Allertons from around the world, and then placed in appropriate settings on the estate.  The parkland has over thirty miles of hiking trails.  The flood plain forest bordering the Sangamon River and upland woods contain 1,032 species of identified plants and 154 bird and mammal species.  This area has been designated as an official National Landmark.

In the year 2000, IACCB celebrated its 28th birthday.  With the exception of two years, the annual fall conference has always been at Allerton House.   The mansion and grounds allow us to hold our meetings in a natural setting away from the hustle and bustle of our everyday lives.  What better way to spend a fall weekend than to join your colleagues in this beautiful setting?? If you have not experienced the beauty of Allerton, there will never be a better time to see it for yourself.  So come and join us !
