The course covers basic genetics principles and relates
them to humans. Topics covered in the course relate to the basic structure
of DNA,cellular division, development,Mendelian genetics, cloning, mutations,
and syndromes. The focus of the course is the structure and function
of genes with emphasis on how genes function, how they interact with
the environment, and the application of genetics to technology.
Students are required to conduct labs, case study assignments,
quizzes and tests. There is one comprehensive final covering all the

BIS102-070 is an Online Genetics Course. I have developed
and taught it for the past 7 years at Triton. I love molecular biology
and genetics. It has always been a great passion for me to learn and
understand how biomolecules are important in shaping us and why we are
          who we are.
It takes a special student to successful in an online
environment. The main advantage of online classes are convenience and
flexibility. Because online courses do not have set meeting times, students
can choose when and where they want to complete their coursework. Online
classes put students in control of their learning.
