Week Seven Terminology

Center of Vision (C) Horizon Line (HL) Station Point
Cone of Vision (COV) Measure Line Two Point Perspective
Ground Line (GL) Perspective Drawings Vanishing Point

Center of Vision (C) -
The center axis within the viewers field of vision.

Cone of Vision (COV) -
The view captured within the viewer's field of vision.

Return to TopGround Line (GL)-
The intersection of the picture plane and the ground plane.

Horizon Line (HL)-
The intersection of the picture plane and a horizontal plane through the eye of the viewer based on the height of the viewer.

Measure Line -
The only true-scale line in a perspective drawing. The measure line is located on the picture plane. In the common method vertical measuring lines are used.

Perspective Drawings -
3 dimensional drawing that is constructed using vanishing points.

Station Point -
Locates the fixed point of the viewer. It should be off-center to avoid a static view.

Two Point Perspective -
3-dimensional drawing that uses two vanishing points. Mainly used for exterior views.

Vanishing Point -
VP Points at which parallel lines appear to meet in perspective.
