Concrete Construction Technology
Students study the design process, structural engineering, specification writing and codes while preparing an abbreviated set of architectural, structural, and mechanical construction documents for a concrete framed building. Concrete mixing, forming and pouring trade skills will be taught.
Prerequisite: ARC109 and ARC110 or concurrent enrollment

Quizzes and Exam will be closed-book / closed-note tests of knowledge. All material either in the textbook or discussed in class may be appear on the Quizes and Exam.

Course Outline:
Architectural, structural and mechanical construction documents for a concrete-framed building. Drawings will all be done in Revit and AutoCAD.
Prepare a partial set of drawings for a multi-story concrete building.
Do a simplified building code analysis.
Do simple engineering calculations for concrete columns, beams and slabs.
Preliminary concrete beam and column design.
Write a part of a specification using Masterspec.
Lay out a parking lot showing stalls and drainage.
Prepare a concrete mix specification.
